Watch Film Shorts in Fortnite’s Party Royale
Starting February 20, 2021, at 2 PM ET, join players worldwide for the Fortnite Presents Short Nite Film Festival. Running until February 21, 2021, at 2 PM ET, Short Nite brings acclaimed animated film shorts to Party Royale’s Big Screen. Grab some popcorn (in real life or in-game), jump in with yourself or some friends, and enjoy a series of short-form cinema.
Fortnite’s Short Nite will screen 12 acclaimed animated short films that will last around 30 minutes and repeat non-stop for 24 hours, so you definitely won’t miss it if you want to watch something. The animated shorts come from all around the world, and some have even been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
Among the 12 animated short films is Bench from director Rich Webber, which is currently long-listed for a BAFTA award. From BlueZoo Animation Studio, Lynx & Birds will be shown, as well as Jamille van Wijngaarden’s slapstick film about a pet bird and a curious cat, Catastrophe; and the Oscar-nominated film A Single Life from the writing and directing team of Job Roggeveen, Joris Oprins and Marieke Blaauw.
In addition to running in Party Royale mode, the film festival will be available to stream within the Picture-in-Picture feature in standard Battle Royale mode, commencing every two hours during the Short Nite period. To help players get in the spirit of the film festival, Epic Games is releasing a popcorn emote through the item store starting Friday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. ET.
Epic Games is also funding an animated film based on the Mesopotamian hero Gilgamesh. The film will reportedly be developed through Epic’s Unreal graphics engine to bring the ancient mythological figure to modern audiences.
